Founder of The Studio and the Creative Company, LLC
Tara Vernier, founder of The Studio and The Creative Company LLC, has more than 20 years of experience as a professional dancer, teacher, national judge and choreographer. Highly trained in all forms of dance, Tara specializes in hip-hop, jazz, Latin, ballroom and children’s movement education. A lifetime of educational experiences, which include studies at Eastern Michigan University, led her to develop one of the area’s top studios. Tara’s vast experiences in the pageant world and commercial work allow her to educate not only in dance, but in modeling, acting and all forms of stage presentation. Her many titles include Preteen Miss Michigan, and first runner-up for Preteen Miss USA.
Upon the success of The Studio, Tara was asked to create and direct the dance programs for many of Southeast Michigan’s recreational and community education systems. You can find these programs in the recreational departments of South Lyon, Brighton, Milford and Walled Lake.
Winner of the 2010 Dance Makers prestigious “Marjorie Perry Award,” Tara puts her heart and soul into developing the very best in our youth, educating them with valuable lessons lasting a lifetime.
Tara says: "When I started my studies of the arts back in the early 80’s, finding a high-quality school that embraced teaching in an enthusiastic atmosphere was difficult. It was either 'first-class lessons in a stuffy academy' or 'great times in the school of no technique.' Numerous years of lessons in the 'stuffy-strict' atmosphere led me to one of my most important life decisions – a dream I chased for years. I was going to dedicate my future to creating the enthusiastic and high-quality performing arts center I'd been dreaming of for so long."
Today, The Studio & The Creative Company stand tall as meccas of first-class, electrifying arts education and training. From dance to acting, specialty enrichment classes and programs, The Studio has influenced the lives of so many. Join Tara as The Studio enters its second decade with continued passion and excitement for the arts! She would be honored to answer any questions you might have via phone call or a visit!

Lizzy Peters
Lizzy started dancing ballet and tap at the age of 2 years old. She tried other styles of dance, such as hula, and loved every second of it! When Lizzy and her family moved to South Lyon at the age of 10, she joined a recreational hip hop class at The Studio and immediately fell in love with the atmosphere and people here. Ever since then, The Studio has been like a second home to her!
While still in high school, Lizzy began assisting in classes and always loved helping out with her younger sister, watching her grow into a beautiful dancer. From then on out, she was hooked and she knew teaching dance was something she wanted to do for the rest of her life! Lizzy began teaching her own classes – for all ages and styles, including hip hop, jazz, ballet, tap, lyrical, contemporary, pom, strength and conditioning, and technique and training. She also coached South Lyon Panthers pom teams for seven years, winning Grand Champions and First Overall at Cheerfest for almost all the routines she choreographed.
After graduating high school from South Lyon East, Lizzy attended Oakland University for 2 years and was on the dance team. She performed hip hop, jazz, or pom routines at all of men and women’s basketball games, and loved continuing to dance after high school. Lizzy was always interested in the creative arts and decided to change her career path and start a cosmetology apprenticeship at K Bella Hair Studio. She is now a licensed cosmetologist who specializes in hair and makeup and making all of your beauty dreams come true!
Lizzy absolutely loves the path she has chosen because she gets to do the two things she loves - teaching dance and doing hair and makeup. She absolutely adores the kids and wants to help them be the very best they can be. She thinks the best part of the job is watching the kids grow into the most amazing dancers and follow their dreams.
